It is expected that Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte will sign the P165-billion Bayanihan to Recover as one bill by “at the latest next week.”

On Monday, Malacañang gave the assurance, adding it was consulting government agencies on the proposed plan.

Presidential spokesperson Harry Roque said the public should expect the bill “as soon as possible” to be signed into law.

“I think they’re aiming that the bill should be signed this week, next week at the latest,” Roque told the press.

Last week, Budget Secretary Wendel Avisado said the Office of the Executive Secretary (OES) was reviewing the proposed plan. The OES is then to make its recommendation to the President.

The Bayanihan 2 bill provides P140 billion of regular appropriations and P25.5 billion of standby funding.

It aims to finance numerous initiatives to boost the economy, enhance health care, procure vaccines, support testing and tracing activities, and assist industries and workers seriously impacted by the coronavirus pandemic.
