Alibaba Cloud Forms Ecosystem Alliance in the Philippines to Boost Digital Transformation

Alibaba Cloud, the Alibaba Group’s digital technology and intelligence platform, today announced the establishment of the Alibaba Cloud Philippines Ecosystem Alliance with the aim of accelerating the country’s digital business transformation.

The alliance is a collaborative project with local ecosystem partners, led by Alibaba Cloud, to encourage cloud adoption and the use of analytics intelligence by businesses of all types and sizes. This aims to become the nation’s leading cloud ecosystem bringing together thousands of Alibaba Cloud partners and customers who have gained from the company’s experience in digitalization, including promoting digital transformation in the various vertical industries, a broad range of academic research, technological advancement, and marketplace enhancement solutions.

“Philippines is a booming market with a big group of young and digital savvy population. There is a strong demand on digital transformation in accordance with local government’s ‘cloud-first’ initiative. We have established local team and business coverage in the Philippines and will continue to invest in the country,” said Leo Liu, General Manager of Hong Kong, Macau, Korea and Philippines, Alibaba Cloud Intelligence.

Alibaba Cloud has also launched a series of training programs dedicated to providing the necessary IT training, in line with its efforts to better prepare young, tech-savvy Filipinos for the imminent shift to digital. These include the Alibaba Academy Program, the Alibaba Cloud Partner Program, and the Alibaba Certificates Program. Alibaba Cloud is expected to train 50,000 IT professionals and certify at least 10,000 IT professionals in the next three years.

To help businesses and small and medium-sized enterprises in the Philippines develop and flourish in a digital world, Alibaba Cloud offers extensive localized cloud solutions and products, including leading computing, storage, database, cloud network, cloud protection, analytics, and artificial intelligence fields, as well as New Retail, fintech, and digital media solutions.

For example, during the 30th Southeast Asian (SEA) Games, Alibaba Cloud worked with telecommunications giant PLDT to provide hybrid cloud and security solutions for eSports matches, delivering high-speed connectivity and efficient online high-volume traffic handling.

Currently, Alibaba Cloud has over 20 local partners from different industries such as retail, fintech, media, ICT, BPO, healthcare, and education. The trusted global cloud leader plans to support 5,000 Philippine companies on their digital migration by end-2023.
